Manufacturer’s Description: “Selfies” have become one of the world’s most popular pastimes, with people taking photos of themselves, their friends and their pets in all sorts of locations and situations. Even world leaders and royalty are doing it! This fun-filled design by Howard Robinson shows what might happen if horses got involved too. Let your imagination run riot, and enjoy the challenge of piecing together this ever-so-silly portrait of equine pals.
Review: As regular readers know, I love a good jigsaw. I find them challenging yet relaxing, and putting that final piece into place is oh so satisfying!
Ravensburger sent me this funny Horsing Around jigsaw, the first in a new series of Selfies jigsaws, poking fun at the selfie trend that is so popular. The finished puzzle shows a pack of horses smiling and pulling faces for a group selfie, and it’s quite funny – if a little weird!
This puzzle has 500 pieces and I found it quite challenging for that size jigsaw, due to the similar shades and textures depicted throughout the picture. It was enjoyable to do and took several evenings to complete.
As always, the quality of the puzzle & its pieces was very good. The Ravensburger soft click technology & the way that all the pieces are individual and can only fit in one place was good for this jigsaw; as the colours were all so similar it was good to know that when I thought I had the right piece in place that I could tell I was correct by the way it fit.
Included in the box is an A4 sheet with a picture of the puzzle & some more information about it and the artist. These info sheets are so useful as they allow you to use the box lid to sort through pieces while still having a picture of the finished puzzle to hand.
I don’t think the picture on this puzzle would suit everyone, but you can say that about all puzzles. I look forward to seeing what comes next in the Selfies series. I can see teenagers who enjoy jigsaws liking this series in particular, and they’d make a nice gift for a puzzler with a silly sense of humour.
The price is reasonable and the quality good – 5 stars.
